The Sahabi who had long hair.
Ibn al-Hanzaliya, one of the Prophet’s Companions, reported the Prophet peace be upon him as saying,
“Khuraim al-Asadi would be a fine man were it not for the length of his hair which reaches the shoulders and the way he lets his lower garment hang down.” When Khuraim heard that he took a knife and cut his hair in line with his ears, and he raised his lower garment halfway up his legs.

Mulla Ali al Qari said:
There is no doubt that the length of his hair is not blameworthy, and there was no command to cut off what exceeded a known amount of it, so perhaps He peace be upon him – saw this man showing pride/conceit with the length of his hair, as indicated by his saying: And let down his lower garment (which was done out of arrogance in those time).

Whether he was proud due to his long hair or not. At the end of the day, the moment he came to know Prophet peace be upon him likes him but asking him to cut his hair. He didn’t think anything else, accepted and didn’t ask any question. And here we are, we ask 100 questions before accepting anything.
