Seeing an angel of death at the time of death. Goosebumps.
Sometimes you may see the dying one appear to be observing something invisible.
Mulla Ali al Qari said:
أَيِ: الْمُحْتَضَرُ يَتَمَثَّلُ لَهُ الْمَلَكُ الْمُتَوَلِّي لِرُوحِهِ فَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ شَزْرًا وَلَا يَرْتَدُّ طَرْفُهُ حَتَّى تُفَارِقَهُ الرُّوحُ، أَوْ تَضْمَحِلَّ بَقَايَا قُوَى الْبَصَرِ، وَيَبْقَى الْحَصْرُ عَلَى تِلْكَ الْهَيْئَةِ، وَيُعَضِّدُهُ مَا رَوَى أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ – صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: «أَلَمْ تَرَوْا أَنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ إِذَا مَاتَ شَخُصَ بَصَرُهُ “. قَالُوا: بَلَى. قَالَ: ” فَذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَتْبَعَ بَصَرُهُ نَفْسَهُ» . أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ وَغَيْرُ مُسْتَنْكَرٍ مِنْ قُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى أَنْ يَكْشِفَ عَنْهُ الْغِطَاءَ سَاعَتَئِذٍ حَتَّى يُبْصِرَ، قُلْتُ: يُؤَيِّدُهُ: {فَكَشْفنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ} [ق: ٢٢] .
It means: The dying person perceives the angel assigned to his soul, who looks at him attentively until the soul departs or the remnants of vision fade away.. this is supported by what Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
“Did you not see when the man died and his eyes were fixedly open? He (Abu Huraira) said: Yes. He (the Holy Prophet) said: It is due to the fact that when (the soul leaves the body) his eyesight follows the soul.” This hadith is narrated by Muslim.
It is not strange for Allah as It is within the capability of Allah the Almighty to remove the covering (for a dying man) at that time so that the person can see (angels of death). I say: It is supported by the verse, ““You were heedless of this. Now We have removed your veil from you; so your sight today is sharp.”” [Quran 50:22].
