1. The day of EID at the time of Prophet peace be upon him.
Narrated Aisha:
Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath (a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar, the Khazraj and the Aus, before Islam). The Prophet (peace be upon him) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr came and spoke to me harshly saying, “Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet (peace be upon him)?” Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) turned his face towards him and said, “Leave them.” When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signaled to those girls to go out and they left. It was the day of `Id, and the Black people were playing with shields and spears; so either I requested the Prophet (p.b.u.h) or he asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) made me stand behind him and my cheek was touching his cheek and he was saying, “Carry on! O Bani Arfida,” till I got tired. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, “Are you satisfied (Is that sufficient for you)?” I replied in the affirmative and he told me to leave.

And among the benefits of this hadith is that it is legitimate to expand (your hands) on children (i.e. giving them food, gifts etc) on the days of Eid…
That expressing joy on the occasion of the Eids is one of the symbols of the religion.
That Man can visit his daughter when she is with her husband if he usually visit to meet her,
That father can discipline the daughter in front of her husband as it is duty enjoined upon Fathers.
And to show kindness towards wife…
That the places of good people should be refrained from playing, even if there is no sin except with their permission.
If a student see a disliked thing near his teacher he can stop and it is not against adab…
That a student can give fatwa in front of his teacher…
[Fath al-Baari (2/443) very rough translation]2. Expressing Joy on Eid.
Ibn Hajar said:
Expressing joy on the occasion of the Eids is one of the symbols of the religion. [Fath al-Baari (2/443)]
3. Wear the best clothes you have on Eid.
Ibn Hajar said:
Ibn Abi Duniya and al Bayhaqi narrated with an authentic chain that Ibn Umar used to wear the best clothes he had on the two Eids. [Fath al Bari, Kitab al Eidayn, chapter 1]
4. Some Madahib on Praying Eid on his own if he missed it with the Imam.
a) Al-Muzni narrated from al-Shaafa’i (may Allah have mercy on him) in Mukhtasar al-Umm (8/125):
He may offer the Eid prayer on his own in his house, as may the traveller, the slave and the woman. [Islamqa].
b) Ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni (Hanbali):
He has the choice: if he wishes he may pray it on his own, and if he wishes he may pray it in congregation. [Islamqa]
c) In al-Durr al-Mukhtaar ma’a Haashiyat Ibn ‘Aabideen (2/175 – Hanafi) it says: He should not pray it on his own if he has missed it with the imam. End quote.
d) Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah favoured the Hanafi view, and it was also regarded as more correct by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him), as it says in al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (5/156). [Islamqa]
e) Imam Bukhari made a Chapter:
Whoever missed the Eid prayer should offer two Rak’a prayer. [Sahih al Bukhari, Kitab al Eidayn, Chapter 25]
f) Ibn Hajar al Asqalani commented:
(Sufiyan) at-Thawri and Ahmad said: If he is praying alone then pray four rakah. There Salaf in this matter is the saying of Ibn Masood: “The one who missed the Eid prayer with Imam, Pray four rakah”. Narrated by Saeed bin Mansoor with an authentic chain.
Ishaq said: If the make up prayer is with Jama`at then pray two rakah, otherwise (if praying alone then) four rakah….
[Fath al Bari, Kitab al Eidayn]
5. Those who gave most in charity were the women on Eid day.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say on Eids :
‘Give in charity. Give in charity.’ Those who gave most in charity were the women. [Ibn Maja Book 5, Hadith 1347, Sahih Muslim 889]
