Even Sufis know Sahaba never asked help from Auliyah.
Allah says in al Fatir verse 14
“If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters].”
Ahmad Yaar Khan Naeemi said Wahabis say this verse mean Anbiya and Auliyah can not listen to our supplication and they will deny that you called upon them on the day of judgement. Then he said:
“But if you ask these foolish people at the time of the revelation of this verse. It was the period of Holy Prophet peace be upon him. So, tell us which companion was calling upon Prophets and saints in his time of difficulty, thus becoming polytheist.”
(Tafsir Nur ul Irfan by Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi, English translation by Molana Muhammad Husain Mikdam brailwi under Surah al Fatir verse 13 and 14)
It is strange that he himself is saying sahaba didn’t ask help from Auliyah and Anbiya.
Note: al Qurtubi used this verse for Eesa and Uzair peace be upon them who are Anbiya. So for them al Qurtubi is also wahabi. Following is his quote.
Al Qurtubi commented:
أي إن تستغيثوا بهم في النوائب لا يسمعوا دعاءكم؛ لأنها جمادات لا تبصر ولا تسمع
Meaning is If you Call them for help in hard situations then they cannot hear you because they are Jamadaat, they cannot see nor hear.
This is Possible that this verse is for Angels, Jinn, Prophets and Satan as they will deny (all) what you have done and that they asked them to worship them, Like Eesa Peace be upon him will say “It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say)”. (end quote from Tafsir al Qurtubi underal Fatir verse 14)
