Allegation number 13: Wife Beating
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet was on a journey and a slave named Anjasha was chanting (singing) for the camels to let them go fast (while driving). The Prophet said, “O Anjasha, drive slowly (the camels) with the glass vessels!” Abu Qilaba said, “By the glass vessels’ he meant the women (riding the camels).”[Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 229]
Comment: Leave a side beating he forbade the camel driver to slow down, so that it may not harm women. Now see his claim
Islamwatch says Wife Beating
The Quran: Sura (4:34) – “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.”
According to Islamic law, a husband may strike his wife for any one of the following four reasons:
– She does not attempt to make herself beautiful for him (i.e. “let’s herself go”)
– She refuses to meet his sexual demands
– She leaves the house without his permission or a “legitimate reason”
– She neglects her religious duties
Any of these are also sufficient grounds for divorce.

Islamwatch quoted
From the Hadith: Muslim (4:2127) – Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission. Aisha narrates, “He struck me on the chest which caused me pain.”
Here is the complete hadith
Muhammad b. Qais said (to the people): Should I not narrate to you (a hadith of the Holy Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He (Muhammad b. Qais) then reported that it was ‘A’isha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi’. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I also returned He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I, however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in the bed, he (the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O ‘A’isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal, Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come to you), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and I did not like to awaken you, fearing that you may be frightened. He (Gabriel) said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi’ (to those lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I pray for them (How should I beg forgiveness for them)? He said: Say, Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the Believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone ahead of us, and those who come later on, and we shall, God willing, join you.[Muslim Book 4 Number 2127]
My Friend and Brother Dr Asif replied;
As a doctor I analysed this hadith, The distance between home of Aisha ra. and Jannat ul Baqi(the grave yard) is quite long. As Aisha ra was afraid that Prophet peace be upon him will come to know she was following her, So in order to avoid this she came running back to home.
It is natural physiological phenomenon, when a person runs for a distance more then 100 meters, Body responds with hyperventilation. Person breaths fast and even heart rate increases, Blood pressure increases, during such situation if you give slight push on chest person will feel pain.
YOU CAN DO THIS ON YOURSELF ALSO TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS,
IN ABOVE HADITH PROPHET peace be upon him JUST GIVE A PUSH TO AISHA R.A & SHE FELT PAIN …..(end of his saying)
Moreover Aaishah (Radhiallahu ‘Anha) herself said: Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) never hit anything with his hand ever, except when fighting in the path of Allaah. Nor did he ever hit a servant or a woman.” [Recorded by Musnad Ishaq bin Rawahiya no: 698, Ibn Maajah Kitab al Nikah hadeeth no: 1984 Al-Albaanee said it is Saheeh.]

Lastly see beautiful Explanation by brother Kevin Abdullah here:

He made many points in his article among them one is, the term used in the hadith is: Lahada.
Imam Nawawi in his Sharh states that: The word “lahada” according to the lexicographers means, “to push” (dafa’a).(End quote for details see his full article)
So it is clear Prophet Peace be upon him never beat his wives nor any other person.
Islamwatch says
Bukhari (7:72:715) – A woman came to Muhammad and begged him to stop her husband from beating her. Her skin was bruised so badly that she it is described as being “greener” than the green veil she was wearing. Muhammad did not admonish her husband, but instead ordered her to return to him and submit to his sexual desires.
Response
This hadith has been replied in this same article see again or see in the link under the heading Refutation Series IV: Muslim Men can Capture Infidel Women as Sex Slave
Author once again put half (the only part of hadith which he liked) hadith. Not only the author misquoted the hadith but due to his hatred towards islam he himself CARED to type the hadith, like he did previously. But people who read the article, are not fool, they can see which part is a copy paste and which part is typed.
Author needs to be careful if he has planned to, again, write something anti-Islamic.

Islamwatch quoted
Abu Dawud (2141) – “Iyas bin ‘Abd Allah bin Abi Dhubab reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not beat Allah’s handmaidens, but when ‘Umar came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them. Then many women came round the family of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) complaining against their husbands. So the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Many women have gone round Muhammad’s family complaining against their husbands. They are not the best among you.” At first, Muhammad forbade men from beating their wives, but he rescinded this once it was reported that women were becoming emboldened toward their husbands. Beatings are sometimes necessary to keep women in their place.
Response
Above hadith is criticised by Imam Bukhari and Imam Al Baghwi because Iyas bin Abd Allah is not sahabi according to them as it is mentioned in Awn al Mabood under this hadith
(Imam) Munzari said it is mentioned by Nisai and Ibne Majah and (Imam) Abu al Qasim Baghwi said i don’t know Iyas bin Abdullah Narrated any other hadith then this and (Imam) Bukhari mentioned this hadeeth in his Tareekh and said It is not known that Iyas was in company (of Prophet peace be upon him), and Ibne Abi Hatim said Iyas bin Abdullah bin Abi Dhubab Ad Dosi Madni was in the company (of Prophet) i heard my father and Abu Zur’ah both said same.(end)
Even if we consider it authentic then Brother Karim replied to Silas a christian missionary
The above statement is such a big and cheap lie, the prophet was clearly condemning those husbands and not the women!
(For the proof, see: Riyad as Saliheen chapter 34, nr 279 .
Prophet (peace be upon him) told the believers that ‘those husbands are not the best among you’. Prophet (peace be upon him) also revoked the dispensation. Further this hadith proves that wife beating was not permitted at all, since Umar came to ask for permission of the prophet (peace be upon him), if hitting ones wife was normal and allowed in any case or in many cases, umar wouldn’t asked the prophet (peace be upon him) permission for it, therefore:
The man has no right to beat his wife as per the explicit prohibition of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
The basic rule (asl) is strict prohibition, followed by dispensation (rukhsa) as explicated by the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the hadith where Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Do not hit the maidservants of Allah ! ” ( la tadribu ima’ Allah ). Then Umar came to the Prophet and said ( by way of exaggeration , cf. ‘Awn al-Ma ‘bud ) : “The wome are rebelling ( dha’irna ) against their husbands ! ” So the prophet gave a dispensation ( rakhkhasa ) to beat them. Whereupon women started pouring to see the family of the messenger of Allah and complain about their husbands. Seeing this, the prophet said: “Many women have poured in to see the family of Muhammad, complaining of their husbands, and the latter are certainly not the best of you”
(Narrated from Iyas ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Dhubab by al-Shafi’i in his Musnad, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, al-Tabarani in al-Kabir, and al-Hakim. Al-Nawawi and al-Suyuti graded it a sound (sahih) narration in Riyad al-Salihin and al-Jami’ al-Saghir respectively).
Another authentic version in Sahih Ibn Hibban (9:491) adds that the Prophet then revoked the dispensation. His statement that “the best of you are the best in their behavior towards their wives, and I am the best of you in my behavior towards my wives” shows that
* wife-beaters are the worst men and
* No Muslim wife-beater can possibly claim to imitate the Prophet , although Allah Most High said to imitate him : {Verily in the messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the last Day, and remembereth Allah much} (33:21).

Islamwatch quoted
Abu Dawud (2142) – “The Prophet said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife.”
Allah despises women, both Muslim and infidel, with such a deep hatred and loathing that one would wonder why he even bothered to create women. He could just create bisexual men with reproductive organs.
Response
Explanation of above hadith: Hadith is not authentic Because of Abdul Rahman al Muslee is in the chain & no one said he is trustworthy
Sayings of scholars regarding this hadith:
Ibne Hajar Asqalani weakened him in Tahdheeb at Tahdheeb 6/304
Imam Ibn al Qattan said this is not authentic in “Byan al Waham al abhaam (5/524
Imam adh Dahabee said :In it Abdul Rahman aslamee is not known” Meezan al Aitedaal (2/602
Shaykh Ahmad shakir said in tehqeeq of Musnad Ahmad 1/77 Chian is weak
Shaykh Shoaib al Aranoot weakened this hadith in his tahqeeq of Musnad Ahmad
Shaykh Al Bani Weakened in “Irwa al Ghulail 7/98
See detailed reply in http://www.islamqa.com/ar/ref/146600
Authentic Ahadith which clears the anti-islamic claim:
Muawiyah al Qarshi said I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.(Abu Dawud Book 11, Number 2139
and this hadith
“Verily I declare the gravity of the rights of the two weak persons: the orphan and the woman.”[Mustadrak al Haakim #211]
and
“Do not force the daughters and girls for they are precious and delightful companions.” [Musnad Ahmad #17411 and verified]
Author’s remarks on the weak hadith he quoted, compelled me to say that, in fact , he is the one who think women are only to meet desires of men. He couldn’t think beyond the sex-related remarks. Throughout this article, author only tried to prove one thing nd that is “women are sex-objects”, this only presents his mentality towards women. Author himself presents the value of women he observed and learnt in his society and religion.
ISLAM is the only religion which protects, respects, and honors women. And no one , if follows islam , can even think about harming women in any possible way.
I am grateful to ALLAH that HE gave me a chance to refute this full of lies, article and to present the true and actual status of women in islam, which muslim women enjoy.
MAY ALLAH guide us all to the right path Amin.
