When Azhari Scholars Agreed with the Statements of Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab
Shaykh Rashid Rida said, while refuting the claim that Shaykh Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab and his followers were Khawarij:
“Once, I presented statements of Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab before Shaykh al-Akbar of Jamiʿat al-Azhar, Abu al-Fadl al-Jizawi, who was the Shaykh al-Azhar at the time, while several reputable scholars were present. All of them agreed that these statements were in accordance with the madhhab of the majority of Ahl al-Sunnah.”
