Justice of Umar bin al Khattab VS Crusaders according to a Christian Bishop Thomas Newton
Thomas Newton a biblical scholar and the Bishop of Bristol from 1761 to 1782 wrote about Umar bin al Khattab when he went to Jerusalem.
“He granted them (Christians) honourable conditions; he would not allow any of their churches to be taken from them but only demanded of the patriarch, with great modesty, a place he might build a mosque. The patriarch showed him Jacob’s stone and the place where the temple of Solomon had been built which the Christians had filled with ordure in hatred of Jews. Omar began himself to cleanse the place”

Whereas, he wrote about crusaders when they conquered the land:
“And all who were not Christians they put to the sword. They massacred above seventy thousand Mussulmen (Muslims): and all the Jews in the place they gathered and burnt together; and the spoil that they found in the mosques was of inestimable value.”
