Jihad bil Nafs and Jihad with Quran.
a) Jihad bil Nafs
Narrated Fadalah bin ‘Ubaid:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: “The Mujahid is one who strives against his own soul.”
[Abu ‘Eisa Tirmidhee said:] There are narrations on this topic from ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir and Jabir. The Hadith of Fadalah is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1621]
b) Jihad with Quran
Allah says
So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive with them thereby with a constantly great striving. (Jihadan Kabeera) [25:52]
a) Ibn Jareer at-Tabri commented:
But do bigger Jihad with them by Qur`an [Tafsir at-Tabri under 25:52]
b) al Baghwi commented:
(strive with them) i.e. with Qur`an [Mu`alim at-Tanzil 25:52]
c) Qadhi Shawkani commented:
..Strive with them by Qur`an [Fath al Qadeer under 25:52]
d) Ibn Kathir commented:
(So obey not the disbelievers, but strive hard against them with it.) meaning, with the Qur’an. This was the view of Ibn `Abbas. [under 25:52]
e) Tafsir Jalal`ayn says
So do not obey the disbelievers, in their desires, but struggle against them therewith, that is, through [adherence to] the Qur’ān, with a great endeavour. [Tafsir Jalal`ayn under 25:52]
