Aisha (رضي الله عنها) Shut Down Suspicion Over Virginity.
It is said about Aisha radhiAllahanha:
, عن عائشة رضي الله عنها: أنها زوجت مولاة لها رجلا فلم يجدها عذراء, فخرج الرجل لذلك حزينا شديد الحزن, حتى عرف ذلك في وجهه, فرفع ذلك إلى عائشة رضي الله عنها فقالت: وما يحزنه؟ إن العذرة ليدفعها الحيض, والأصبع, والوضوء, والوثبة.
“She married off her freed slave girl to a man, but the man did not find her to be a virgin. He left extremely saddened, to the point that his distress was evident on his face. When this matter was brought to Aisha’s attention, she said:
‘Why is he sad? Virginity can be lost due to menstruation, finger (while doing Taharah) , ablution (A strong jet of water could also break the hymen.), or even a sudden jump.'”
[Kitab al Athaar, [37] بَابُ من تزوج امرأة فلم يجدها عذراءChapter If a man marries a woman and don’t find her virgin, The Narration is authentic on the criteria of Ahnaf.]
She didn’t say, “Suspect her, or divorce her.” Rather, she comforted him, explained what actually happens, and saved him from suspicion.
Note: Even if you don’t accept the narration, the rule is widely accepted by the fuqaha that The hymen may be broken due to jumping, insertion of fingers, heavy menses, lengthy spinsterhood and other reasons. See: al-Mabsoot (5/8), Kashshaaf al-Qinaa’ (5/47) and al-Fataawa al-Kubra (3/88)
There exists a filthy and degrading tradition where the mother-in-law and others inspects the white bedsheet for traces of blood after the wedding night. It is one of the remnants of Jaahiliyyah. See Al-Ibdaa’ fi Madaar al-Ibtidaa’ (p. 265), Dar al-I’tisaam by Shaykh Ali Mahfooz, Islamqa
P.s Zina has become easy to commit, and I have yet to meet a liberal who does not openly admit to engaging in it. Meanwhile, marriage has been made extremely difficult when it should be simple. Unfortunately, women treat it as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ event, demanding extravagant expenses. Men are no better, with many having countless desires and even expecting dowries.
