What happened when people of Madina feared the crusader, ruler of al Kerak Raynald of Châtillon.
Ibn Kathir said when the ruler of al Kerak was unable to do anything to Muslims on the land.
ولما عجز إبرنس الكرك عن إيصال الأذى إلى المسلمين في البر، عمل مراكب في بحر القلزم ليقطعوا الطريق على الحجاج والتجار، فوصلت أذيتهم إلى عيذاب، وخاف أهل المدينة النبوية من شرهم، فأمر الملك العادل الأمير حسام الدين لؤلؤ صاحب الأسطول أن يعمل مراكبه في بحر القلزم ليحارب أصحاب الإبرنس، ففعل ذلك فظفر بهم في كل موطن، فقتلوا منهم وحرقوا وغرقوا وسبوا في مواطن كثيرة، ومواقف هائلة، وأمن البر والبحر بإذن الله تعالى، وأرسل الناصر إلى أخيه العادل ليشكر ذلك عن مساعيه، وأرسل إلى ديوان الخليفة يعرفهم بذلك.
.. he prepared boats in the Red Sea so that they may stop hujjaj and businessmen, and their mischief reached to Eezab, and people of Madina feared their evil. So Malik Adil Ameer Hassam ud din who was ameer of navy ordered that his boats should be ready in Red Sea so that he may fight the men of Reynald and that is what happened and he (Hassam ud din) won in every battle (in the sea), some of them were killed and others were burnt and some were drowned and others were captured.. Nasir (Salah ud din) sent his thanks to his brother Adil for his endeavor…
