Spirits visit the world and ask for Esal e sawab

Below is the Brelvi Creed against the creed of Ahlus Sunnah

Ilyas Qadri attari who is leader of Dawat e Islami one of the biggest Brelvi movement in subcontinent, said.
“Sweet sweet Islamic Brothers! So we know that the dead can recognize those who visit their grave. And they can take benefit from the prayers of living people. When the gifts of Eesal e Sawab do not reach them from living people ..Allah azawajal give them permission so they go and ask for eesal e sawab by visit their houses. My leader Ala Hadrat Imam of Ahlus sunnah Mujaddid of deen and Millat Molana Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan aleh Rahma al Rahman mentioned in Fatawa Ridwiya vol 9 page 650
It is mentioned in “Gharaaib” and “Khazanah” that spirits of the Momineen stay in front of the house on the occasions of every Night of the Friday, On Eid, Day of Ashoor, and Night of Bra’at.. And every spirit Call upon in sad voice. O my household, O my children, O my friends do mercy on us by giving charity.” [25 narrations of the people of graves page no: 10 by Ilyas Qadri attari ameer of Dawat e Islami] .

Comment: Above is the creed of extreme Sufis, this is totally against the creed of Ahlus sunnah wal Jama`ah, Allah never allows a anyone to visit the household.

Refutation from Ahadeeth

Another hadith states

When a Momin see his good deeds in his graves
فيقول: رب أقم الساعة حتى أرجع إلى أهلي ومالي
He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’ [Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4753; Ahmad, 18063 – this version was narrated by him. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1676]

This is a proof that He will not come to this world before the day of judgment.
Musannif Abdul Razzaq hadith no: 6744 states when The Momin sees his place is Jannah, He said “Should I tell this good news to my household? The Angels say “Stay here This is your place (untill day of judgment)” .

Ibn Kathir states

Allah states that even though the martyrs were killed in this life, their souls are alive and receiving provisions in the Dwelling of Everlasting Life. In his Sahih, Muslim recorded that Masruq said, “We asked ‘Abdullah about this Ayah,
(Think not of those as dead who are killed in the way of Allah. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.)
He said, ‘We asked the Messenger of Allah the same question and he said,
(Their souls are inside green birds that have lamps, which are hanging below the Throne (of Allah), and they wander about in Paradise wherever they wish. Then they return to those lamps. Allah looks at them and says, ‘Do you wish for anything’ They say, ‘What more could we wish for, while we go wherever we wish in Paradise’ Allah asked them this question thrice, and when they realize that He will keep asking them until they give an answer, they say, ‘O Lord! We wish that our souls be returned to our bodies so that we are killed in Your cause again.’ Allah knew that they did not have any other wish, so they were left.)”’ There are several other similar narrations from Anas and Abu Sa’id.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas said that the Messenger of Allah said,
(No soul that has a good standing with Allah and dies would wish to go back to the life of this world, except for the martyr. He would like to be returned to this life so that he could be martyred again, for he tastes the honor achieved from martyrdom.) Muslim collected this Hadith

In addition, Imam Ahmad recorded that, Ibn ‘Abbas said that the Messenger of Allah said,
(When your brothers were killed in Uhud, Allah placed their souls inside green birds that tend to the rivers of Paradise and eat from its fruits. They then return to golden lamps hanging in the shade of the Throne. When they tasted the delight of their food, drink and dwelling, they said, ‘We wish that our brothers knew what Allah gave us so that they will not abandon Jihad or warfare.’ Allah said, ‘I will convey the news for you.’) Allah revealed these and the following Ayat,
(Think not of those as dead who are killed in the way of Allah. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.)
Qatadah, Ar-Rabi’ and Ad-Dahhak said that these Ayat were revealed about the martyrs of Uhud. Abu Bakr Ibn Marduwyah recorded that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said, “The Messenger of Allah looked at me one day and said, ‘O Jabir! Why do I see you sad’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! My father was martyred and left behind debts and children.’ He said, (Should I tell you that Allah never spoke to anyone except from behind a veil However, He spoke to your father directly. He said, ‘Ask Me and I will give you.’ He said, ‘I ask that I am returned to life so that I am killed in Your cause again.’ The Lord, Exalted He be, said, ‘I have spoken the word that they shall not be returned back to it (this life). ‘ He said, ‘O Lord! Then convey the news to those I left behind.’)(end quote)
Comment:So these explicit sayings of Prophet peace be upon him clears that no one can visit household after death.

Ibn Kathir also said
Mujahid said, Al-Barzakh is a barrier between this world and the Hereafter. Muhammad bin Ka`b said, “Al-Barzakh is what is between this world and the Hereafter, neither they are the people of this world, eating and drinking, nor are they with the people of the Hereafter, being rewarded or punished for their deeds.” Abu Sakhr said, “Al-Barzakh refers to the graves. They are neither in this world nor the Hereafter, and they will stay there until the Day of Resurrection.'[Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir of chapter 23 verse 100]

Refutation from Hanafi Fatawa


1. Qazi Shihab ud din Dolat Abadi (d 894 h) said:
وما يفعله الجهال على رأس كل حول وشهر ربيع الأول ليس بشىء ويقومون عند ذكر مولده صلى الله عليه وسلم ويزعمون ان روحه يجيء و حاضر فزعمهم باطل وهذا الاعتقاد شرك
On the start of year and in the month of Rabi ul Awwal in the name of Mawlid of peace be upon him Ignorants do something which is nothing(i.e these things have nothing to do with Islam). They claim that his (peace be upon him) soul comes and (he peace be upon him is) present. This is False and this creed is shirk.[Majmoo Fatawa Qazi Shahab ud din 1/27]

Note: He (أحمد بن أبي القاسم عمر الزاولي شهاب الدين الدولة آبادي الهندي الحنفي ) was one of the great muftis of ahnaf, and he was Judge as it can be seen in the books سبحة المرجان فى آثار هندوستان page no: 39 and نزهة الخواطر

3. Allamah Allusi al-Hanafi Rahimullah mufti of Baghdad said Under the Qur’anic Surah 22, verse 78 he says:

ذلك والظاهر من حالهم الطلب ويرشد إلى ذلك أنه لو قيل : انذروا لله تعالى واجعلوا ثوابه لوالديكم فإنهم أحوج من أولئك الأولياء لم يفعلوا ورأيت كثيرا منهم يسجد على أعتاب حجر قبور الأولياء ومنهم من يثبت التصرف لهم جميعا في قبورهم لكنهم متفاوتون فيه حسب تفاوت مراتبهم والعلماء منهم يحصرون التصرف في القبور في أربعة أو خمسة وإذا طولبوا بالدليل قالوا : ثبت ذلك بالكشف قاتلهم الله تعالى ما أجهلهم وأكثر افترائهم ومنهم من يزعم أنهم يخرجون من القبور ويتشكلون بأشكال مختلفة وعلماؤهم يقولون : إنما تظهر أرواحهم متشكلة وتطوف حيث شاءت وربما تشكلت بصورة أسد أو غزال أو نحوه وكل ذلك باطل لا أصل له في الكتاب والسنة وكلام سلف الأمة وقد أفسد هؤلاء على الناس دينهم وصاروا ضحكة لأهل الأديان المنسوخة من اليهود والنصارى وكذا لأهل النحل والدهرية نسأل الله تعالى العفو والعافية .

“And the concept of [them] ‘seeking’ (from the dead person) is clear from their situation. This [meaning] is understood if they are told: ‘Make a vow for Allah Most High and allocate its reward for your parents for indeed they are in more need than those people.’ They would not do so. “And I have seen many of them prostrating at the doorsteps of the mausoleums of the friends of Allah. And among them are those who affirm that they all have the right of disposal (tasarruf) in their graves and that, however, they are different in that (in their ability of tasarruf) according to the differences in their statuses. And the ‘ulama among them enumerate the right of disposal in the graves into four or five, and when they are asked for proof they say: ‘That was established through kashf’. May Allah Most High fight them! How great is their ignorance and lies. “And among them are those who claim the saints can leave their graves and take different shapes. And their ‘ulama say their souls appear in different shapes and travel wherever they wish. At times they take the shape of a lion or a gazelle or something similar. And all of this is false, and without basis in the Book, the Sunnah and the speech of the predecessors of the Ummah. These people have ruined people’s faith and have become an object of ridicule for the people of those religions which have been abrogated, such as the Jews and the Christians, and likewise the people of other sects and the freethinkers . We ask Allah for forgiveness and well being”.

4. Fatawa Alamgeeri says
يجب كفار الروافض فى قولهم برجعة الاموات الى الدنيا
It is obligatory to say Kafir to Rawafidh(Shias) because they say dead people visits this world.

5. Its mentioned in Fatawa Bazaazia:
قال علماؤنا‏:‏ من قال أرواح المشايخ حاضرة تعلم يكفر

6. It says in “Majma’ al-Anhur” of the Ahnaaf:
وَيَكْفُرُ بِقَوْلِهِ أَرْوَاحُ الْمَشَايِخِ حَاضِرَةٌ , تَعْلَمُ
“And one becomes a kafir with the statement that the souls of the mashaykh are present, and knowing”.

Refutation from Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jelani to whom Ilyas Qadiri considers his peer

Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jelani (Known as Gawth al-Adham) writes:
ويلك! ماتستحي تطلب من غير الله عزوجل وهو أقرب إليك من غيره
Woe to you, Aren’t you ashamed to seek your need and help from someone other than Allah, While HE is closer to you than all others.[Fath al-Rabbani page 159]

He said
اتبعوا و لا تبتدعوا، وافقوا و لا تخالفوا، أطيعوا و لا تعصوا، أخلصوا و لا تشركوا، وحدوا الحق عزّ و جلّ و عن بابه فلا تبرحوا. سلوه و لا تسألوا غيره، استعينوا به و لا تستعينوا بغيره، توكلوا عليه و لا تتوكلوا على غيره.
“Follow and obey and do not innovate. Agree with the religion and do not differ, obey and do not disobey, have sincerity and do not do Shirk. Accept Allaah as one and do not turn away from him. Ask Allaah and do not ask others. Ask him for help and do not ask anyone else for help. Have reliance and trust in him and do not have reliance in anyone else.” (al-Fath ur-Rabbaanee (pg.151الفتح الرباني للجيلاني المجلس السابع والأربعون ).

He also said
لاتسئل الخلق شئياً فانهم عجزة فقراء لايملكون لانفسهم ولالغيرهم ضراً ولا نفعا
“Do not ask the creation for anything, for they are powerless and in need. They do not possess for themselves and nor for anyone apart from them any harm or benefit.”[Fath al-Rabbani, majlis # 50 p.343]

He also said
” The believing slave should have firm belief that in reality there is no doer except Allah. And there is none that can give movement or peace except Allah. There is no good or evil or harm or benefit or giving or forbidding or opening or closing or death or life or grace or disgrace or wealth or poverty except all of this is in the hands of Allah. So [with complete tawhid] one becomes — in front of taqdir — like a suckling child in the arms of a wet nurse.” [Futuh al-Ghayb, Maqala #3 P.5]

He also said
المفّو ضة فهم القائلون ان اللّه فوّض تدبير الخلق الى الائمة وان اللّه اقدر النبى صلى اللّه عليه وسلم على خلق العالم وتدبيره
The Al-Mufawwada [a sect of Shias], they believe that Allah has entrusted the management [tadbir] of the creation to the Imams, and that Allah has given the Prophet [may Allah bless him and give him peace] the power of creating universe and its tadbir [disposing of it].[Ghunyat al-Talibin, p.221]


It is agreed upon that spirits can not visit their houses, they are helpless,and we can use statements of Ahmad Raza Khan and Ilyas Qadri in evidenceagainst them i.e O our innocent brothers, when you know the souls are Helpless and they themselves are crying for help, then why are you calling them for help? Please stick to Qur’an and Sunnah not Fatawa Ridwiya and the likes of Tahir ul Qadri and Ilyas Qadri attari.
