Ibn hajar al asqalani on people visiting the grave of sayyida Nafeesa and doing kufr at her grave because of their extreme veneration.
Al Sakhawi said:
ومنها أنَّه سُئِلَ عَن صحَّة ما يُحكى مِنْ أنَّ السيدة المشهورة نفيسة
ابنة الحسن رضي اللَّه عنها صنعت وليمةً دعت الإمام الشافعي إليها فحضرها، وأنَّها دخلت مصرَ قبل دُخول الشَّافعي إليها، وأنَّها في هذا القبر مِنْ حين وفاتها سنة ثمان ومائتين إلى هلمَّ جرا.
فأجاب ما نصه: حضُور الإمام الوليمة عندها لا أعرفه، بل ورد أنَّ الشافعي لما مات مروا بجنازته عليها، فصلَّت عليه، ولم يثبُت هذا أيضًا.
وأما كونها قُبِرَت إلى آخره، فهو المشهورُ، لكن ذكَرَ بعضُ أهلِ المعرفة أن خُصوصَ هذا القبر الذي يُزارُ ليس هو قبرها، لكنها دُفِنَتْ في تلك البقعة بالاتفاق، وما زال قبرُها مقصودًا بالزيارة والتبرك به، حتى اشتهر عَنْ نقل بعض العلماء أن المصريين كانوا يُسَمونَ الدعاء عندها الترياقَ المجرَّبَ! وقد غلا في ذلك بعضُ العوامِّ، بل كلهم، حتى إن بعضهم يقع في الكفر وهو لا يشعُرُ، واللَّه المستعان.
He (Ibn hajr) was asked about the authenticity of the narrative that:
1. Sayyida Nafisa, daughter of al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with her), hosted a banquet and invited Imam al-Shafi’i, who attended.
2. She entered Egypt before al-Shafi’i.
3. She has been buried in this grave since her death in 208 AH.
He responded:
I am unaware of Imam al-Shafi’i attending the banquet. However, it is reported that when al-Shafi’i died, his funeral procession passed by her grave, and she prayed for him, but this is also unverified.
As for her being buried there, it is the widely accepted account. Nevertheless, some knowledgeable individuals mentioned that the specific grave being visited is not hers, although she was indeed buried in that location by consensus. Her grave remained a destination for visitation and blessings, to the extent that some scholars reported Egyptians referred to supplication near her grave as ‘the tried remedy’!
Common people have exceeded limits in this regard, to the point where some have fallen into disbelief without realizing it. Allah is the One who provides assistance.”
