A woman forgave her husband just because of his over protectiveness.
Ibn Kathir quoted from al Muntazim Ibn Jawzi:
A woman approached the judge of al Ray, and claimed that her husband have to pay her mahr of five hundred dinar, but he denied, so she came with the witnesses to testify for her, and they said:
We want her to reveal her face to us so that we may know she is his wife or not. When they were persistent to do so, (The husband couldn’t resist this and) said:
Do not do it (I.e. don’t ask her to reveal her face). She is truthful in what she claims, and acknowledged what she claimed against him to protect her from those people looking at her face.
When the woman saw this that he is doing this to protect her face from looking. She herself said: He is free from my mahr in this world and the hereafter.
